Wok dishes originated in China and are most common throughout Southeast Asia. Most are served with an array of sauces and vegetables including sweet and sour, and teriyaki. It is a simple dish that can be elevated to an exquisite meal quite easily with the right ingredients.
The tossing action, commonly associated with wok dishes, was originally utilized to keep live shrimp from escaping the pan. Similar methods were used with chicken woks, though they are tossed gently, so as to prevent the meat from taking flight.
